What is RISE?
Engaged Research In the Social Economy
This Erasmus+ funded project will build the skills of social economy organisations (SEOs) to partner in projects with research institutes. This will enable more engaged research (ER), a practice that creates more socially impactful projects through collaboration between researchers and communities. SEOs can be the key to accessing communities and practitioner expertise and achieving real change, but they can lack the capacity necessary to navigate the research landscape. RISE will address this need.
Who is RISE for?
By participating in the RISE programme, workers of social economy organisations will get:
-
The skills necessary to navigate the research landscape as non-academics and in partnership with researchers.
-
The tools and confidence to engage in research, in a way that is strategic for their organisation and beneficial to their service users.

What is Engaged Research?
Engaged Research (ER) is an overarching or umbrella term describing a wide range of research approaches and methodologies, each having a core intent of collaborative engagement with and within society. Hence, engaged research is an inclusive approach that moves beyond the mind-set of conducting research for society and it includes practices such as citizen science, public patient involvement, or participatory action research as well as concepts such as co-production or co-creation of research.
